New generation of portal cranes without cable trolleys

"Hang on, there's something missing" is usually the first thing professionals notice when they see the new generation of portal cranes from Kranservice Rheinberg GmbH (KSR). And indeed, the new range of products from the subsidiary of Mannesmann Dematic AG do without the cable management systems that have so far given cranes their typical appearance, providing power and data transmission.

This innovation has been made possible by the use of unipole conductors and SMG technology from VAHLE. Both systems ensure trouble-free transmission of energy and data between the crane and trolley, even under the toughest conditions. Doing away with the mechanically highly stressed cable trolley systems allows a shorter crane bridge without a cable trolley maintenance platform. Thanks to this VAHLE development, the new KSR cranes are quieter in operation and easier to service. The portal cranes are therefore suitable for use both in container terminals and in industry, e.g. for handling pipes or scrap.

Maintenance-free, even under though conditions

Afer a demanding "winter test", with crane trolley speeds up to 160 m/min, KSR is able to confirm that the VAHLE system provides problem-free operation and complete freedom from maintenance. Only the conductor system requires inspection at annual intervals and has to be fitted with new carbon brushes if necessary.
