VAHLE cable carriers support power cables and hoses (for pneumatic and hydraulic applications) to mobile equipment. The carriers travel on flat flange or sloped flange I-beams. They comply with VDE and international regulations and support both flat and round cables.

In addition to power cables the carriers can support any number of control and fibre optic cables. A full range of suitable cables and fittings is available (cat. 8 l).

Special solutions for agressive site conditions can be supplied. Our product range contains stainless steel, acid-proof and seawater-resistant carrier systems and components. Standard carrier types have hot dip galvanized bodies and supports of either polyamide or aluminium.

When the travelling speed exceeds 200 m/min we supply festoon systems partially using motor driven cable carriers. Please contact us in case you have questions or require technical support.

Motor driven cable carriers for high speed applications

The requirements as to the efficiency of container handling cranes were set higher in the past years. Trolley speeds exceeding 200 m/min are quite common, this is beyond the limits of ordinary cable festoon systems.

In response to this problem several new techniques to cope with the cable management challenge have recently been introduced. One efficient solution is the combination of motor-driven and ordinary festoon carriers. In order to guarantee a troublefree operation with a minimum of stress to the cables at speeds over 200 m/min some carriers of a festoon system need to be fitted with motor drives. Hereby, we achieve a much better movement synchronity of the crane trolley and the festoon system. The number of motor-driven systems within a total system depends on the technical parameters, such as trolley travel distance, travel speeds, acceleration, cable weight, frequency of operation and others.

The VAHLE design of motor-driven festoon carriers guarantees high reliability and max. protection to the cables. The systems now in operation have performed satisfactorily under all kind of weather conditions, like stormy winds, rain and snow. A great part of maintenance is limited to a regular sight control.

Series WA 145 R - frequency controlled AC-motor with a rating between 2,2 and 3,0 KW. The permissible load per carrier is 500 kg and the polyurethane coated steel rollers are 140 mm in diameter.

Series WA 155 R - frequency controlled AC-motor with a rating between 4,0 and 5,5 KW. The permissible load per carrier is 750 kg and the polyurethane coated steel rollers are 160 mm in diameter.
