The Airbus
is one of the world's most modern commercial aircraft. Airbus aircraft of type
A321 have rolled out of the hangar in Hamburg-Finkenwerder since 1992. In the
meantime, more than 200 units have been delivered by DASA and their European
partners to customers all over the world.
The first step in the 70 m long assembly line is
the transporting and positioning of the individual segments which is carried
out with high precision. The VAHLE data communication system SMG is then responsible
for the joining of the segments: The two automatic riveting machines move synchronously
around the parts of the fuselage and join them together. Since the automatic
riveting machines are controlled fully automatically, the SMG system is responsible
for the necessary data communication between the machines and the control center.
Parallel to the SMG system there is a circular conductor line, the so-called U 10 ring,
which surrounds the fuselage. This supplies the necessary power to the automatic riveting machines.
Thus, VAHLE uses the most modern technology which meanwhile has helped the
Airbus to reach a 40% share of the world market.
